You still have time to make a difference!
This past weekend, the Feder for Congress campaign knocked almost 40,000 doors in VA-10. That doesn’t include tens of thousands of additional knocks and phone calls made by the Obama and Warner campaigns in our district!
We’ve got an incredible ground game but we still have slots that need to be filled for Election Day.
Can you give up 2 hours of your time to change the direction of our country?
This is it. It all comes down to the next 33 hours.
Sign up to volunteer on Election Day today!
Thank you again for your support,

Debate Transcript Proves It: Wolf Supports McCain Health Benefits Tax!
Moderator: What Measures would you suggest to improve the availability—and I'm going to include affordability—of health care without the system becoming socialist?
Congressman Wolf: We have to make health insurance more accessible and more affordable, we also have to make sure we keep it between the doctor and the patient and not involve the federal government.
I think the proposal that has been made with regard to Senator Kaine…Senator McCain and many others.
With regard to a $5000 tax credit: Most people receive their health insurance through their place of employment, that would also help employers large and small to do it.
Also, the $5000 tax credit would allow you to take it some other place. For realtors to band together, for small businesses to band together. Also for the portability to take place.
[Wolf goes on to talk about legislation he's supported for research and mental health parity]
Judy Feder: Let me talk a little bit about it, since you seem to favor it, Mr. McCain's plan.
Mr. McCain has said he want to deregulate the health insurance industry the way we so successfully deregulated the banking industry. I think that is not the way we want to go and let me tell you why:
He wants to tax our health care benefits. The experts tell us that when he does that, it's going to leave 20 million people losing the insurance they now have.
And he's going to send them to the market place with a $5000 tax credit for insurance that for a family costs $12,000. And it's not going to protect anybody from discrimination based on pre-existing conditions…
[Judy goes on to talk about McCain not being able to get health care and that she does not advocate a government takeover]
Moderator: One minute for rebuttal, Congressman Wolf would you like it?
Congressman Wolf: No
Again, note that Frank Wolf had the opportunity at the debate to deny that he supported John McCain's huge tax on health care benefits, but he said "no." Just as Wolf says "no" to the middle class in general, while he's saying "yes" to Big Oil and Big Pharma. Priorities, priorities...

Over-the-Top Attack Ad Reveals the Real Frank Wolf
As you watch this ad, consider that this is about as far from the real Judy Feder as anyone can possibly imagine. It's also as far from the truth and over-the-top as a Sarah Palin interview or a Jeff Frederick mailer. But it IS very revealing about Frank Wolf, who also is busy denying that he endorsed John McCain's huge health care tax proposal, even though it's all on videotape! So much for Frank Wolf being a "good guy," a "moderate," truthful, or significantly better from the Fredericks, McCains and Palins of the world. Boy, is it ever time for a change in the 10th CD!
UPDATE: Here's the videotape of Frank Wolf endorsing John McCain's health care plan, and not denying it when Judy Feder calls him on it. Enjoy!

Hard Hitting New Ad Against Frank Wolf
From the Feder campaign...
We’re up with our latest ad across the 10th district!
Frank Wolf's “hands off” approach to Wall Street and his 92 % support of George Bush on the economy and Iraq helped lead us to where we are today, and it's just another reason we need real change in Virginia-10 and our country.
With less than four weeks to go, your support has never been more critical. We’re about to make our broadcast TV buy and we need your help to make it as strong as possible.
We're challenging our supporters to help us raise $100,000 online in October to give us the resources we need to win in 27 days!
Contribute today to help us reach our $100,000 goal.
People in the tenth district want change in Washington and our new ad shows that Frank Wolf is not going to deliver the change we need. Voting consistently with George Bush on the economy, on Iraq and opposing the reproductive rights of women isn’t change –it’s just more of the same.
Making a contribution today ensures that we can continue to deliver Judy’s message of change to the voters of the 10th District.
Contribute today to help us reach our $100,000 goal.
Thanks for all you do,

Jim Webb; "4 for Nov. 4"
From Jim Webb's "Born Fighting" PAC.
We have a chance to achieve a significant victory this Fall in Virginia. There are four House seats currently held by Republicans where the Democrats have a chance to win on November 4.
Facing today's economic crisis, we need new leaders who will fight for the people of Virginia to secure our future and economic fairness. Two years ago, you helped step up for me in the final weeks to carry us to victory. Today, I'm asking you to do the same for Gerry Connolly, Judy Feder, Glenn Nye, and Tom Perriello before tonight's September 30th fundraising deadline.
http://www.actblue.com/page/4seats
In Virginia's 11th Congressional District, Democrat Gerry Connolly is in a close race in a district for a seat currently held by a Republican. Gerry Connolly is Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. Gerry is a dedicated community leader, and his common-sense approach to community issues has earned him countless awards for his work on the environment, improving public safety, and transportation.
This November, Gerry faces a tough battle against a well-funded and wealthy businessman. Help make sure Gerry has the resources to stay competitive in this critical House race.
http://www.actblue.com/page/4seats
Judy Feder is running in Virginia's 10th Congressional District against a 14-term incumbent Republican. At the Department of Health and Human Services, Judy worked to expand health insurance coverage, manage Medicare and Medicaid effectively, and assure the safety of food and drugs. One of the nation's leading experts on health policy, Judy is respected for her work as a scholar, public servant, educator, and independent advocate for America's families.
Two years ago, Judy came just short of winning this Seat, but with your help she'll win this November. Please donate to Judy's campaign before the deadline at midnight tonight.
http://www.actblue.com/page/4seats
Glenn Nye, running in Virginia's 2nd Congressional District, is a former Foreign Service officer who volunteered to serve in conflict zones in Afghanistan, Kosovo and Iraq. He received the State Department's Superior Honor Award for leading a rescue of 26 American citizens and negotiating the release of an American hostage. Glenn and I share the belief that the Bush Administration has led our country into a misguided war in Iraq while neglecting priorities at home, and that we must change the direction of our nation.
Glenn's opponent has already started to launch false personal attacks against Glenn. We can't let the right-wing smear Glenn's record.
Please help Glenn Nye fight back against the attacks. Contribute before the midnight deadline!
http://www.actblue.com/page/4seats
Tom Perriello, running in Virginia's 5th Congressional District, has spent his entire adult life fighting for human rights. Tom worked to end atrocities in Liberia and Sierra Leone, which had suffered long civil wars fueled by blood diamonds. Tom also helped found FaithfulAmerica.org and Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good, which bring together faith communities to fight for health care, supporting a higher minimum wage, environmental stewardship, and responsible solutions in Iraq.
With tonight's FEC filing deadline just a few hours away, Tom needs us to help him end the quarter strong. Click here to donate to Tom's campaign before midnight!

Since 2001, the Democratic Party has enjoyed great success in Virginia. This November, we have a chance to continue to build upon this and elect 4 new members to the U.S. House. This is a critical time for candidates, and I hope you'll be able to help Gerry, Judy, Glenn, and Tom in these final hours before the midnight deadline.
Sincerely,
Senator Jim Webb
U.S. Senator

Flashback to 2006: Feder Demands Wolf Condemn "Macaca" Comments
Here's what Judy Feder had to say on August 14, 2006 about George Allen's "macaca" comments:
These remarks are unacceptable in the Virginia of today. Virginia is home of the Bill of Rights and has a proud tradition of tolerance, and the state is home to many people whose ancestors are from around the world. It is shameful that Senator Allen would insult a Virginian because of his race or heritage. I ask Congressman Wolf to join all Virginians in condemning Allen's hateful remarks. Senator Allen's remarks show why we so desperately need change in Washington and why we need to hold our elected officials accountable for their actions.Last I checked, we're still waiting for that condemnation from Frank Wolf. Maybe Wolf's just really REALLY slow to respond (unless the Chinese are bugging his computers or whatever), or maybe he thinks it's ok to call Asian Americans "macacas" and people from NOVA not from the "real Virginia?" Either way, it seems like prime time for him to take his long-overdue retirement from Congress.

Judy Feder Added to "Red to Blue" List!
Great news, courtesy of the DCCC. Go Judy!
For more, see here.
DCCC Announces Fourth Round of Red to Blue
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee announced today the next round of candidates who earned a spot in the DCCCs highly competitive Red to Blue program. These six candidates qualified for the fourth round of the Red to Blue program by surpassing demanding fundraising goals and skillfully demonstrating to voters that they stand for change and will represent new priorities when elected to Congress.
The candidates for change being named to the DCCC Red to Blue program are running solid campaigns and are committed to making things easier for middle class families in their districts, said Chris Van Hollen, Chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. With less than 100 days to make their case for change to voters in their districts, the Red to Blue program will give these candidates the financial and structural edge to be even more competitive in November.
Chairman Van Hollen joined Red to Blue co-chairs Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), Artur Davis (D-AL), and Bruce Braley (D-IA) to announce six candidates who qualified for the Red to Blue program:
(LA-07) Don Cravins
(NV-02) Jill Derby
(OH-02) Vic Wulsin
(PA-03) Kathy Dahlkemper
(VA-05) Tom Periello
(VA-10) Judy Feder
Reflecting Democrats expanding playing field this cycle, there are now 44 candidates on the Red to Blue program. The Red to Blue program highlights top Democratic campaigns across the country and offers them financial, communications, and strategic support. The program will introduce Democratic supporters to new, competitive candidates in order to help expand the fundraising base for these campaigns. A complete list of Red to Blue candidates is available on the DCCC website at: www.dccc.org/page/content/redtoblue/.
Red to Blue was a proven success in the 2006 cycle. In 2006, the Red to Blue program raised nearly $22.6 million for 56 campaigns with an average of $404,000 per campaign. Red to Blue was also responsible for solidifying the structure of dozens of campaigns and making a real difference for Democrats across America.

99 Days Until We All Say "Farewell Frank!"
We only have 99 days left to change our country.
This past weekend we marked 100 days from November 4th with grassroots canvasses across the district. From Herndon to McLean and Ashburn to Winchester, volunteers took the Obama-Warner-Feder message of change to thousands of doors.
We’re receiving an overwhelmingly positive response. With tens of thousands of doors knocked, canvass results show Judy running ahead of Wolf in both Fairfax and Loudoun counties!
Maybe that’s why the Wolf campaign has decided to go on the attack. In 2006, they ignored us until the very end. This year, they know change is on the way and they’re doing everything they can to hold back the tide.
Contribute today to help us fight back.
Just last week the Wolf campaign attacked Judy twice. First, for supporting a bi-partisan effort to provide tax relief for middle income homeowners. Then, they trotted out the tired GOP strategy of trying to link Democratic candidates to Speaker Pelosi.
That strategy was tried and failed, in special elections across the country over the past year. It didn’t even work in Denny Hastert’s old seat and with your help it’s not going to work in VA-10 either.
Make a contribution today.
Unable to go toe-to-toe on the issues, they’ve resorted to the politics of the past. Tired, old attacks that just aren’t going to work in 2008.
Last week, they had to turn off their fax machine after being overwhelmed with questions on whether Rep. Wolf stood with the Iraqi government, Senator Obama and the American people in favor of a timeline for withdrawal or if he instead favored Senator McCain's open ended commitment.
With the local press saying, "the 10th Congressional District rematch between former Democrat Judy Feder and Republican Rep. Frank Wolf could well be a nip-and-tuck affair,” it’s no wonder they’re scared.
Please make your contribution today to help us keep the momentum going.
Thank you for your support. With your help we’re going to change the direction of our country on November 4th.

Feder Getting Under Frank's Skin?
Based on this article, it sure looks like Judy Feder is getting under Frank Wolf's (thin) skin.
How many doors have you knocked on, Frank Wolf?
Speaking in an interview earlier this week, Wolf campaign manager Dan Scandling said the Feder campaign was "all bluff and no stuff," and was trying to draw a false connection between fundraising and votes.
"Dan Scandling's attacks against this campaign are nothing more than an attempt to deflect from our obvious strength," said Luke McFarland, Feder's campaign manager.
"I'm sure they would prefer that we didn't raise a penny and just went away quietly. That isn't going to happen," McFarland said.
"As for the merits of the statement, well, we just can't let that kind of blatant attack go unchallenged. So, we'll be happy to share some of our 'stuff,'" he said.
Feder's campaign has participated in 34 community meetings across the district and attended 23 parades, festivals and other events, he said.
They also have knocked on 14,917 doors and made 12,942 volunteer phone calls.
"We're one of the most competitive, well-funded challengers in the nation so it's hardly a surprise that the Wolf campaign would be feeling defensive and like they need to lash out," he said.
How many doors have you knocked on, Frank Wolf?

Swing State Project on Judy Feder's Fundraising
Courtesy of Swing State Project:
To date, Judy Feder has raised $1.2 million, almost equal to Frank Wolf's $1.4 million. In terms of "cash on hand," the two candidates are about even as well, with Wolf at $849,000 and Feder at $812,000. And remember, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) had $47.1 million in the bank at the end of May, while the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) had just $6.65 million. This should be a fun fall...if you're a Democrat, that is! :)
There is a lot of great news for Democrats here, but in particular, the numbers for Jim Himes (CT-04), Ashwin Madia (MN-03), Martin Heinrich (NM-01), Darcy Burner (WA-08), Raul Martinez (FL-21) and Joe Garcia (FL-25) are absolutely stunning. In some races that are still under the radar, Democrats posted solid numbers, including Scott Harper (IL-13), Nick Leibham (CA-50), Sharen Neuhardt (OH-07), Jim Esch (NE-02), Dennis Shulman (NJ-05), Sam Bennett (PA-15), and Judy Feder (VA-10).

"Thank You Mike!"
From the Feder for Congress campaign...
Mike Turner ran a hard-fought campaign over the past year. A 28-year veteran of the United States Air Force and senior official at national non-profits such as the Red Cross, Mike has lived a life dedicated to service. Over the last few years he has spent countless hours working on behalf of Democratic candidates to help turn Loudoun County blue. “For his service to our country, commitment to our community and dedication to our party, we all owe him our thanks,” said Judy Feder.
“Mike and I spoke on the night of the primary and he was extraordinarily gracious, offering his full support in the general election. I know that together we can bring an end to business as usual in Washington and give Virginians the change they’re looking for in November.”

Tom Davis: 10th CD "in play" for Judy Feder!
It's not often that you get to read a memo written by one Republican arguing that one of their Republican colleagues (and neighbors) is in electoral danger. But now we've got one, courtesy of Rep. Tom Davis (R-11). It's a long memo, but here's the part we particularly enjoyed reading over at Feder for Congress:
That's right, Tom Davis himself says that the 10th CD is in play, that Judy Feder could defeat his pal Frank Wolf this November. I doubt this makes Frank Wolf very happy, but Tom Davis is known as one of the GOP's most astute political analysts and that's his analysis. At least Frank Wolf won't be surprised when, come November, we're all saying "Farewell Frank!" :)
A look at key House races shows Democratic candidates much better funded than their GOP counterparts. This is in addition to the major advantage held by the Congressional campaign committees and their liberal 527s. Even second tier Democrats have substantial fundraising cash on hand, allowing a well stocked DCCC to put races in play that are not currently on radar. The following chart illustrates the point (bolding added for emphasis):
District Republican COH Democrat COH
California 04* McClintock $125K Brown $590K
California 11 Andal 531K McNerny 1.153M
Florida 16 Valeche (pr.) 589K Mahoney 1.032M
Rooney (pr.) 442K
Florida 24 Feeney 549K Kosmas 581K

Money's Not Everything, But Still...
Money may not be everything in political campaigns, but still...this is great news:
The point is not that money will win the race for Judy Feder, the point is that the amount of money she's raising indicates two things: 1) competitiveness; and 2) support. Combined with the fact that Frank Wolf has been a consistent rubber stamp for George W. Bush, not to mention completely out of touch with the wishes of 10th CD residents on a whole host of issues -- ranging from Iraq to stem cells to reproductive rights to health care to the environment -- Judy Feder's prodigious fundraising bodes well for her chances this fall. Go Judy!
House Challenger Candidates Who Have the Most Campaign Cash on Hand (as of March 31)
1. Jim Himes, Democrat, Connecticut's 4th ($1.1 million)
2. Kay Barnes, Democrat, Missouri's 6th ($954,000)
3. Sandy Treadwell, Republican, New York's 20th ($929,000)
4. Darcy Burner, Democrat, Washington's 8th ($922,000)
5. Mark Schauer, Democrat, Michigan's 7th ($751,000)
6. Dan Seals, Democrat, Illinois' 10th ($745,000)
7. Judy Feder, Democrat, Virginia's 10th ($700,000)
8. Michael Skelly, Democrat, Texas' 7th ($667,000)
9. Gary Peters, Democrat, Michigan's 9th ($645,000)
10. Robert Lord, Democrat, Arizona's 3rd ($632,000)

John McCain is not a "moderate." Neither is Frank Wolf.
If there was any further doubt that John McCain is no longer -- if he ever was one -- a "moderate," check this out:
In short, if John McCain becomes president, you can expect a Supreme Court that moves quickly to a 6-3, 7-2, 8-1 "conservative" (e.g., Scalia, Thomas, Alito, Roberts, Kennedy, and whoever McCain appoints) majority. What does that mean for you? Well, if you care about any of the following, you should be very worried: reproductive rights, worker rights, separation of church and state, gay rights, voting rights, the environment, the power of the executive branch (including war powers), torture, warrantless wiretapping, corporate power, individual liberty, and much more.
That's why, if you're anything but a hard-core "Christian right" conservative, you should look with dread on the prospect of a John McCain-appointed, 6-3 or 7-2 "conservative" Supreme Court. And remember, these guys are on for life and they're pretty young, so electing John McCain could mean that you're saddled with a far-right-wing Supreme Court for the rest of your own life.
And that's exactly why we need to elect a Democrat to the White House this November. It's also why we need a Congress that can pass legislation protecting all the things -- the environment, reproductive rights, our reputation around the world, our liberties at home, etc. -- that will be under assault from an already conservative Supreme Court. Does anyone really think that, after nearly three decades of not being, that Frank Wolf will suddenly morph into an independent voice in Congress for the 10th CD and for America? Right, I didn't think so. This is exactly why we need Judy Feder in Congress. Go Judy!
Highlighting an issue he plans to use aggressively in the general election campaign, Sen. John McCain on Tuesday decried "the common and systematic abuse of our federal courts by the people we entrust with judicial power" and pledged to nominate judges similar to the ones President Bush has placed on the bench.
The presumptive Republican presidential nominee said that Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. "would serve as the model for my own nominees, if that responsibility falls to me"...

Municipal Elections Today
There are a number of municipal election today in the 10th CD. In Loudoun County, mayoral and/or town council elections are being held in Hamilton, Leesburg, Lovettsville, Middleburg, Purcellville, and Round Hill. In Fauquier, there are elections in Remington, The Plains, and Warrenton. There are elections in Manassas City and Manassas Park (Prince William County), Middletown and Stephens City (Frederick County), and also in Berryville and Boyce (Clarke County). I probably missed a few, but wherever you are, please vote if you can. Also, don't forget, the 10th CD primary is on June 10th, when you'll have a chance to vote for the next representative, Judy Feder!

If This Were Frank Wolf...
If this were Frank Wolf, would he be bragging about how he voted over and over again to spend rubber stamp George W. Bush's strategic and tactical mistakes in Iraq? As Judy Feder said the other day:
...as the poorly planned and misguided war now enters its sixth year, Rep. Frank Wolf continues to be a rubber stamp for George Bush’s failed approach, consistently voting against a responsible end to the war.
Despite five full years, nearly 4,000 brave American soldiers killed, and more than half a trillion dollars spent, Frank Wolf continues to stand in the way of change...
Sad but true. Fortunately, 10th CD voters have a choice this year -- Judy Feder.
...if I'm elected to Congress, I will do what Frank Wolf refuses to do – end the war, support a responsible of redeployment of our troops, rebuild our military, and honor the debts owed to the brave men and women who have served their country.
Go Judy, and help get us out of this mess!

Feder Raises $310,000 in 1Q08, 95% from Individuals!
More on Judy Feder's incredible fundraising...
Judy Feder Raises More than $310,000 in First Quarter
More than 450 Virginians Contribute to Change Congress since January
Campaign has $700,000 Cash on Hand
McLean, VA – Judy Feder’s campaign to bring change to Congress continues to gain momentum. The Feder campaign will report raising more than $310,000 in the first three months of 2008 with almost $200,000 contributed in March alone and approximately 95% of donations coming from individuals in the first quarter.
“People want change.” said Feder. “They voted for it last November. They turned out in record numbers for it in February. They are contributing to my campaign because they know that’s what I stand for.”
Since announcing her challenge to Frank Wolf, Judy has raised nearly $900,000 and now has $700,000 cash on hand.
“Frank Wolf has been sitting in Congress for 28 years. Virginians are saying: “That’s enough.”
Over 450 Virginians contributed to Feder’s campaign in the first quarter of 2008 and 538 individual donors gave online, demonstrating the growing grassroots appeal of Judy’s message. Seven months out from the November election, the Feder campaign has already raised more than it had by Labor Day of 2006 when Judy Feder gave Frank Wolf his closest race in 24 years.
“Our momentum is building. Our fundraising success has built a foundation that will give us the financial resources and the grassroots capacity to win in November,” said Feder. Virginians are tired of empty promises and blue ribbon commissions, they want real leadership.”
In 2006, Judy Feder mounted the strongest challenge to Frank Wolf in nearly a quarter century. Though Feder entered the 2006 race a mere 10 months before Election Day, she cut dramatically into Wolf's margin, revealing a growing call for change in the district. That call has grown, as voters in the 10th and across the Commonwealth are demanding that Congress begin to address rising health care costs, a weakened economy and a war in Iraq that has sapped the ability of our nation to focus on the priorities of the American people.
